POPE’S INTENTION
For formation in discernment: Let us pray that we might again learn how to discern, to know how to choose paths of life and reject everything that leads us away from Christ and the Gospel.

BISHOP MESSAGE
Let us pray that we may grow in the grace to truly love one another; breaking down walls of prejudice, fear, and indifference, and opening our hearts to build bridges of compassion, dialogue, and communion in a divided world.
Message from the Bishop
"Guided by Faith, United in Service."
“Peace and blessings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! As we journey together in faith, I invite you to join us in our mission to live the Gospel in our daily lives. Let us build a community rooted in love, service, and prayer, reaching out to all with the joy of Christ.”
Most Rev. Dr. Jaya Rao Polimera
THE SEEDS:
While Eluru came to light in the Catholic history only in 1864, Catholic faith had its beginnings in the Diocese much earlier. The Theatines and the Augustinians were the missionaries who sowed the seeds of Catholic Faith in the Diocese 376 years ago. The first Catholic presence in the Diocese was recorded at Narsapur. Fr. Antonio de Christo residing at Bandar in 1646 built a church of Our Lady of Divine Providence at Narsapur. He made Narsapur his head-quarters for missionary activities. History has it that there were about 400 Catholics at Narsapur at that time. Fr. Bergamora is said to have constructed a Church at Palakole. It was in Palakole that Msgr. Ignatius Cotoledi, one of the Founders and first Vicars Apostolic of MEP Missionaries died in 1662 and was later buried at Bandar in 1663. After the death of Fr. Bergamora in 1662, Fr. Alipio of St. Anthony is said to have looked after the Christian community at Narsapur from Machilipatnam.
MISSION STATEMENT
Home for 3,76, 858 Catholics, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Eluru strives to bring their Faith into action by organising various Pastoral activities throughout the year with a special focus on the education of the youth. A hundred and more educational institutions bring culture, education and faith to the young people to make their dreams and goals realised. Five years from now, the diocese celebrates its golden jubilee and a Pastoral plan is unfurled to guide the Clergy, Religious and the laity to translate our Mission and vision into action.
